If the bike still shows weird behaviour with stock firmware, ebrakes and shift sensor removed it indeed probably will be a faulty controller. If you have a newer BBS02B you are probably fine, if you have an older controller it might not be a good idea to flash this firmware. You dont always get this notification though, so that can cause compability problems. So thats the only way to do it. If you have the battery on the bike, the programming cable attached and plugged into your computer, then the software should be able to pick it up.
